Week 1 Welcome back to Dashwood – Fun and Excitement  
  • Ensure all children feel that they are part of the Dashwood community.
  • Set clear expectations for behaviour and learning.
  • Introduce condition for learning for the term.
Attendance
  • To recognise those children who have attended school every day and discuss the importance of attending school every day.
Musical Visitor
  • To appreciate music from around the world and be inspired to learn a musical instrument both in and out of school.

  • For children to feel good about themselves and develop confidence with performance.
 
Week 2 Star of the week
  • Celebrate individual successes.
 
  • Ensure children are aware that their actions have an impact on their role as a citizen and that consequence will be in place if they are not being a good citizen.
Celebrating as a family: Christmas: Diwali: respect for all faiths
  • To appreciate the significance of celebrating as a family on all occasions.
  • Children will be aware of religious celebrations and the importance of these to individuals.

  • Ensure that children are aware that if they are motivated, not just academically, they can achieve anything.

Remembrance: Tolerance and Respect
  • To reflect and remember that those who served in the World Wars fought for our country and allowed us to lives we lead today.
  • To pay respect to those who lost their lives during conflict both in the past and in present day.
Motivation: Healthy Lifestyles: Teeth
  • Ensure that children are aware that if they are motivated, not just academically, they can achieve anything.
  • Ensure the children are aware of what is required to stay healthy both physically and orally and practice this daily.
Children In Need
  • Show consideration for events/ issues happening around the world.
  • Ensure that children are aware that not all children are as fortunate as they are and that it’s important to help these children when possible.

  • Ensure children understand that Racism is not tolerated in any circumstances.

Kindness Day- Internet Safety Focus
  • Children will be able to navigate the online world safely and positively.
  • Children will follow the correct procedures to report.
  • Children will be aware that an act of kindness can help those in need or brighten up someone’s day.
