Count down to Rio!

Year 5 and 6 Leadership and Responsibility

Year 5 and Year 6 count down to Rio!

Setting up our activities

Report by Amie (Year 6)
On Friday the 10th June 2016, Year 5 and 6 enjoyed a morning of PE. Inspired by the nearing 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, all children had great fun trying a range of activities including some new opportunities – sitting volleyball and Boccia.  Watching past Paralympians playing these sports, we created our own games to experience how it would feel to play sport and overcome disability. Julia (Year 6) said, she really enjoyed it and loved that she got to spend time with her coloured house; ‘Sitting volleyball is the best!’ she called out mid-game!

Pupils planned a carousel of activities, sourcing equipment needed and organised their station ready for an Olympic/Paralympics inspired National School Sports Week 2016. During that week the pupils, supported by our Junior Leaders, will deliver an Aspiration Family event with an Inter-House competition. Activities planned will test agility, balance, co-ordination and stamina. It will also give all pupils in our school the opportunity to participate in Paralympic sports to earn points for their Aspiration Family house.
