Term 4

Creativity in Year 5

Year 5 have had a super term with lots of creativity! We have been so excited to have an opportunity to work on our school willow tree sculpture that will be displayed in The Grove in celebration of Dashwood’s 120 years. Pupils have learned skills in willow weaving using their knowledge of angles and fractions to work out the dimensions of different sections. Pupils also created leaves set on the seasonal themes using their colouring mixing skills. The leaves were then decorated using designs and patterns inspired by nature.

Inspired by the artist William Morris, pupils have also been creating their own pieces of sketch and watercolour artwork to display at the celebration.

Earth and Space

In their Earth and Space topic, pupils are learning to name the planets in our solar system and to describe and explain the movement of the Earth and other planets relative to the sun.
