Congratulations to Year 6 for completing SATs assessments!

They did a fantastic job staying calm and giving full effort in every test. In the build up to the SATs, Year 6 worked hard on recapping and revisiting much of their prior learning in maths, reading and spelling and grammar in order to ensure that they were as prepared as possible.

Following the completion of the tests the pupils enjoyed a special reward lunch in the hall.

Additionally, they have been finding out about water safety from the Canal and River Trust and about maritime careers from an online session where they heard from guest speakers about their roles within the industry.

Cricket festival

Some of our Year 6 pupils were lucky enough to attend the Dynamos Cricket Festival which was held at Banbury Cricket Club where they had the opportunity to compete against other local schools. The intent of this festival was for the children to develop their cricket skills and take part in an enjoyable competition and the school games value focus was respect. Well done to everyone who participated!

understanding how the body works

Year 6 have had a fantastic start to Term 5 and have been learning all about the human body in science. They have been looking at how the body works in detail including the musculoskeletal system, digestive system and circulatory system.

They have also written a newspaper report from the perspective of an alien species where humans have landed on their planet. To go with this they have created an explanation text to use their scientific knowledge to explain how the human body works. In maths, they have been working hard on using algebraic equations and solving problems using statistics.

During PE sessions they have been working hard on developing their cricket skills with the Chance to Shine coach and athletics in order to practice their skills for sports day next term.
