We will be publishing what we are learning during each term throughout the year. Watch this space to see what is happening in Term 1 in and out of the classroom and for useful information for Ash and Silver Birch classes.
The Year 3 ‘What is new and different’ presentation is available as a video or to download. Lots of information about life in school including routines, uniform, PE, clubs, homework, expectations, attendance and behaviour.
This week, Year 3 had a fascinating trip to a quarry in order to learn more about fossils. Having completed some work on fossils in the classroom, we were delighted that the children could tell Amy (our fossil hunting expert) how fossils are formed. Amy told the children about the geology of the area and showed them a range of fossils, including the key features to look out for. After this, the children were given the opportunity to dig for fossils themselves. Despite the chilly wind and drizzly weather, the children really got stuck in and many fossils were found.
Ash Class explore Horley
Ash Class have had a really good time at Horley. Many thanks to Mike and Jane from The Michael Harding Trust for hosting us and showing us around Horley Village. We had a really good time looking at the key features of a village including thatched buildings, iron stone houses, old mills and mill streams as well as the village church. The weather was lovely and the children enjoyed making some geography field sketches.
"The children were a credit to your school, beautifully behaved, attentive and inquisitive."
Jane from The Michael Harding Trust
