Term 3
We will be publishing what we are learning during each term throughout the year. Watch this space to see what is happening in Term 3 in and out of the classroom and for useful information for Peach and Pear classes.
EYFS Bedtime Stories
Children came back after school dressed in their pyjamas. They listened to a bedtime story, ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and then did some activities based on the theme of the story. Activities included decorating a biscuit in the shape of a paw print, making a bear mask, face painting, snack, and bear hunt adventure obstacle course. Everyone had lots of fun!
Chinese New Year
We have been learning about how people around the world have been celebrating Lunar New Year, particularly in China where it is the new year of the tiger. We have been exploring different Chinese objects, learnt a few words in Mandarin as well as using our fine motor skills to use chopsticks.
Designing a logo for Space
Our Reception children have accepted a mission from the UK Space Agency to design a logo for a rocket that is travelling into space later this year.
There is national competition and we all have our fingers crossed that one of our designs gets picked. More information about the competition can be found here: https://www.logoliftoff.org.uk/
Learning about winter
Reception classes have been learning all about winter. We have explored outside and looked for various signs of winter. Back in the classroom, we conducted some experiments with ice. We also discussed how ice changes state from a solid to a liquid as it melts. We even had fun creating our own paintings with ice sticks!
