We will be publishing what we are learning during each term throughout the year. Watch this space to see what is happening in Term 5 in and out of the classroom and for useful information for Peach and Pear classes.

our impact on the planet and eating healthily

Peach and Pear classes have been investigating floating and sinking. They tested which materials would float, then designed and built their own ships using junk modelling. They then tested their ships out in the water tray with the majority staying afloat!

The pupils have also had a focus on looking after the environment. They have learnt about plastic pollution and its impact on wildlife and the planet. They created posters to tell others how to reduce, reuse and recycle plastic items such as bottles, bags and toys.

We also learned how wonderful fresh food tastes during our Healthy Eating Picnic.

Pirates and exploring what we treasure

Peach and Pear classes have been reading stories about pirates and discussing whether they think pirates typically make good or bad choices. They have created pirate-themed props such as telescopes, maps and their own pirate wanted posters. This has linked to their work on prepositions, directions, descriptive language and instructions.

A recent circle time discussion posed the question of what type of treasure the children would like to find, or whether what we really treasure in life is not usually found in a treasure chest. for both students and staff. Let’s inspire and empower the next generation together!
